Medicare is a federal health insurance program in the USA for people 65 and older or younger people with disabilities and ESRD and ALS.
You are eligible to enroll into Medicare 3 months before you turn 65 and 3 months after without being subject to late penalties. After this, you may be liable for 10% surcharges on your coverage for two times as many years for each year you are late to enroll.
Part A of Medicare covers inpatient, skilled nursing, hospital and hospice services is usually automatically covered if you have paid income tax for about 10 years or more.
If you have not paid income tax long enough to get free Medicare part A you may purchase Medicare Part A. Just contact your local social security office or medicare.gov
Part B. of Medicare covers outpatient services medical expenses. To enroll in Medicare part B you will be expected to pay monthly premiums.
Part C of Medicare, also known as Medicare Advantage, will always have at bare minimum the coverages in Medicare parts A and B. Also, your MA plan may have other benefits in addition to this.
Part D of Medicare covers prescription Drug plans.
